Spirit on the Lake

Sheboygan is the Spirit on the Lake, and our favorite Lake Michigan personality is play time! Sure, she fights with us. She weeps with us. She competes with us. And sometimes she’s so downright stubborn, we have to tug our sailboats back to shore! But when she’s playful, stop whatever you’re doing and dance with her. You’ll never forget it!

If it’s a breezy day with winds in the range of 15 to 25 miles per hour, head over to the south beach. Just south of King Park, you’re likely to see some amazing kite surfers soaring along between wave and airlift action. On Wednesday afternoons, you can usually spy a few sailing matches, too. If the winds pick up into a whirling splendor, head over to the North Pier at Deland Park. The surfers live for these moments, and you might catch a glimpse of them as they paddle out to ride a wave. If you’re adventurous enough to haul your own motorboat or jet-skis to our shores, then grab the sunscreen and hit the boat launch! And if you’re boating in, you’ll love our first-class Harbor Centre Marina. If you’re driving in, hop on a charter fishing boat and take home a trophy!

However you choose to Sheboygan, when it’s time for you to leave us, a part of you will always be with our Spirit on the Lake.
