Nature Lovers No-Camp-Out Getaway

Check-in. Early to Bed. Early to Rise!

Roughing it doesn’t have to mean you’re sleeping under the stars with your head on your backpack. Bring the kids and check into one of Sheboygan’s fine hotels. Plenty of amenities ensure your group will enjoy an outdoor experience and spend the evenings reminiscing in comfort! Check into the Holiday Inn Express and be treated to complimentary continental breakfast each morning before you set out to explore. Have a grand time at the GrandStay, with kitchenettes for home-cooking your bacon and eggs. Stay along Sheboygan’s riverfront at Harbor Winds Hotel and stroll down the river walk for an early-morning, organic breakfast at Weather Center Cafe, or feed the whole crew with a full-service breakfast buffet at the Blue Harbor Resort & Spa.

Head out for a romp around Maywood Environmental Park. Journey through 135-acres on friendly trails for leisurely walking, hiking or mountain biking. The Pigeon River winds through the park, offering plenty of opportunity for fishing or aquatic exploration in calm, shallow flow. Explore natural springs, a butterfly garden, six diverse ecosystems, abundant wildlife, indigenous plant life, bird watching, scenic overlooks and photo opportunities galore. Visit the Ecology Center for more information about guided tours, hands-on park activities, day camps, maple syrup tapping, bird watching, owl tracking and seasonal events–don’t forget to rent a park pack so the little ones can explore miniature wildlife in the gardens. Admission is free, although some activities require a nominal fee. Bring a picnic for lunch! This is an all-day exploration event, and there’s plenty to see and do! Check out Ecology Outfitters to rent bikes, kayaks and snow shoes–only 5 minutes away!

After a full day of outdoor adventure at Maywood, end the day’s events with a casual dinner at the Highland House. A bright beachy atmosphere with outdoor seating along the Sheboygan River–it’s the perfect setting for larger groups, families and especially kids! You’re always on vacation at the Highland House.

Hiking

Early to Bed Again! Early Bird Gets the Worm–or the Duck!

On the second day of your eco-adventure, be sure to book an outdoor excursion with Wolf Pack Adventures. Wolf Pack’s eco-experiences are tailored to the season and custom designed for your group.

SPRING

In the spring, don’t miss a life-renewed journey through the Broughton Sheboygan Marsh Park. Take a boat tour of the Marsh waters before the overgrowth of summer deems them impassible. This is a rare opportunity to witness the life cycle of several species of duck, geese and various waterfowl. On a guided motorboat tour, you’ll be as close as a human can get to nesting waterfowl nurturing their delicate young to hatch-point and beyond. The powerful forces of nature prevail without concern for their audience as crows chase hawks away from nests and fawns whisk through islands of cat-tails, swimming across the marsh waters to woodsy areas marked by bucks. Book trips by the hour, half-day or full-day with Wolf Pack Adventures. Be sure to bring a camera. You’ll find a perfect shot of a once-in-a-lifetime action nature picture around every corner. When was the last time you saw a duck run on the surface of the water? This is recommended as a great family outdoor adventure for all ages. (Fees dependent upon group size and length of trip.)

SUMMER

Guided kayak and canoe trips of the Marsh offer the opportunity to experience a green eco-venture powered by you and your crew. Explore 13,000 acres of the Marsh Park through waters filled with healthy seasonal plant growth that motorboats cannot navigate. See the Marsh environment in all its peak seasonal natural splendor that few have the opportunity to explore. Natural wetlands filled with vegetation and wildlife provide a playground for the adventurous to hike, spy, track and snap shots of amazing scenery. Guided fishing excursions along the Sheboygan River are also available. Contact Wolf Pack Adventures. (Fees dependent upon group size and length of trip.)

FALL

Guided hunting and fishing tours are available. Contact Wolf Pack Adventures for rates. Overnight opportunities also available for small group retreats and group adventures.
