“Six months out of every year, when we cook for them it never pays: Instead of praising our goulash, they’re appraising the plays of Willie Mays!” So sings the wife of a 1950s baseball fanatic who trades his soul to the devil for a chance to lead his favorite team in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. He leaves her and the goulash behind and as young baseball sensation, Joe Hardy. He transforms the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team only to realize the true worth of the life (and wife) he’s left at home. With the help of a handy escape clause and a guilt-ridden temptress named Lola, Joe outsmarts the devil, returns to his former self and shepherds the Senators to the World Series. Filled with hit songs like Whatever Lola Wants and You Gotta Have Heart, DAMN YANKEES hit 8 Tony Award winning home runs! Friday, March 30, 7:30 pm

Written by legendary CBS broadcaster, Dick Enberg, and starring actor, Cotter Smith, this play follows the life of Al McGuire, coach of the 1977 national champion Marquette men’s basketball team and popular college basketball broadcaster later in life. The play reveals the inspiring personality Enberg saw in him, once saying, “He was the most amazing character I ever met.” The play revisits McGuire’s inimitable wit and wisdom, as he reminisces about his life from the streets of Queens to his days at Marquette and his travels as a sportscaster. Enberg’s script depicts why the philosophy of this uncommonly funny and profound man had such an important and lasting impact on so many.
Bill Medley is a seminal figure in the history of American music. Perhaps best known as half of the unmistakable duo, The Righteous Brothers, their partnership lasted four decades and became a fixture on top 40 radio with hits like You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin, Just Once in My Life and Unchained Melody. In 1987, Medley scored a monumental hit with another duetist, Jennifer Warrens, on (I’ve Had) the Time of My Life, for the film, Dirty Dancing. On March 10, 2003, The Righteous Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The induction came just months before Bobby Hatfield’s unexpected death. This year, for the first time since Hatfield’s passing, Bill Medley has gone back to the studio to record an album and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, keeping to a rigorous tour schedule so he may share his love of music with his loyal fans. Fred Garbo’s credits include being the acrobat inside Barkley the Dog on Sesame Street. On Broadway, he was the chief juggler in the musical, Barnum. From The Nutcracker to the Inflatable Living Project, Santos’ choreography combines world-class artistry and technical brilliance with theatrical humor.

One of the few original American music genres returns to Sheboygan! As much a part of American culture as Old Glory, mom and apple pie, barbershop quartet singing is an original American art form. It thrives today through the efforts of an organization originally named the “Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America.” The organization is now known as the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Plymouth, Wisconsin, chapter presents its annual show A Sentimental Journey, a musical trip back to the 50s and 60s. The local group has been performing since 1969 and has competed in musical competitions throughout the Midwest. The chorus is under the direction of Mr. Brad Charles of Milwaukee. Tickets available at the Weill Center ticket office weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm, phone 920-208-3243. Tickets $15 general admission.

How do you Sheboygan in the Fall?

Fall colors in Wisconsin can be seen most anywhere in the state, but the most beautiful colors are found in the Kettle Moraine State Forest. There are some special areas and times when the colors are at their best in the Kettles. Start exploring Sheboygan County. There are more than 30,000 acres of forest to see.

Highway 23 West from Sheboygan. Travel this highway until you come to County Highway A in Greenbush. Turn left on Highway A, and proceed into Greenbush. At the intersection of Highway A and Highway P, make a left onto Highway P. This is the start of the scenic drive.

Plan a drive on Highway P–otherwise known as scenic drive–in early to mid-October, the colors are at their peak. The scenic drive is lined with trees on both sides, and the colors are bright. There are areas along Highway P where one can stop and take pictures.

Continue on Highway P to Highway 67. Turn left on 67 for short ride to Highway P again, and turn right. This will take you down a long road with beautiful colors in a distance and along the road, as well. Keep going straight on Highway P to Parnell Tower.

Turn right into the parking lot of Parnell Tower and park. Here you can climb to the top of the tower that overlooks the Kettles. When the colors are at their peak, the pictures and views are incredible.

Descend from the tower, and hike one of the four different hiking trails at the bottom. Each trail tells you how many miles it is and how long it takes to walk. You will go deep into the Kettles and see some beautiful colors, as well as ground flowers that spring up during the fall.
