Lao, Hmong, American Veterans Memorial
Deland Park at Broughton Drive (Lakefront)
Sheboygan, WI 53081

This memorial stands as a tribute to the Hmong and Lao combat veterans and their American advisors who served Freedom's cause in Southeast Asia.  The Lao, Hmong and American Veterans Memorial is not to glorify war, but to clarify what happened because of a Secret War waged by the United States and her allies in Lao from 1961 through 1975.  Secrecy has prevented Americans from appreciating the service and sacrifices of the warriors and those who supported them.  This memorial stands, in a community deeply and directly affected by the war's aftermath, to tell how Americans and non-Americans worked together as allies to keep U.S. soldiers from dying in South Vietnam.  This memorial stands as a tribute to them and to shed light on a truth kept too long in the dark.
